I don't think enough people give James Maslow the appreciation he deserves for playing such a shallow character as well as he does. I mean, think about it, canned laughter is WEIRD, but we accept it as part of the show because we know where to laugh.) The show is genuinely funny, and the actors are pretty adept. (Much like canned laughter or sappy music on any other show. They help mindlessly guide the audience as to what feeling they are supposed to be having. But I don't think people realize how important they actually are to the show. It may take longer than that for others, but it's so worth it. But I accidentally watched this show once and was hooked. I did not want anything to do with this show at first. If I were him I sure as hell would go for Lucy over Jo. Lucy is back at the hotel and is after Kendall. Jo is Kendall's girlfriend and I can not get over her eyebrows at all. They have since disappeared after a couple of seasons, I don't know why but it is a lose as far as I am concerned. At the start there are three girls at the hotel known as the Jennifer's because all are named Jennifer. Of course all four boys turn out to have girl problems at some point in the series and it is always cute and funny. The mother is who keeps everyone grounded most of the time. The younger sister, played very well by Ciara Bravo, is a bright spot with her smarts and ideas that she is always trying to turn a buck on. They get put up at a fairly posh hotel along with one of the four's mother and younger sister. Of course the demo goes places and they get signed to a contract. The four friends from Minnesota, hockey players at heart, get discovered as a singing group and are taken to Los Angeles for a demo. This series is kind of sophomoric but it is also very funny. I thought the spy aspect of those episodes was a little ridiculous and not very entertaining compared to more realistic episodes. I also thought the BTR movie and finale weren't very good. The background music is also recycled and used too often. This works for a while, but by the 3rd season it gets kind of old. This show relies on some cheesy sound effects like boings and trombone playing. What keeps this show from being a 10 is some of the cheesiness on the show. This is a really great show although not as great as other Nickelodeon shows. I liked how they integrated the music and music videos into the stories of various episodes. The music was pretty great although a little cheesy at times. The stories between Katie and Bitters were always great subplots for each episode. I like how the show had an overarching plot of the guys getting famous and going on tour. I really enjoy watching the guys and seeing what kind of shenanigans they were up to. I watched Big Time Rush growing up and re watched it as an adult and it's actually a pretty good Nickelodeon show.
